More from the Winter Meetings

It appears a new development have surfaced today at the Winter Meetings:
Often-injured closer and/or set-up man J.J. Putz is on the Cubs' radar - trying out for the team's scouts in Scottsdale. What have we learned about signing "often-injured" players in the past? You're right! They get injured. Stay tuned for more developments on this potential signing.

Oh, and Chone Too

Oh, and Chone Figgins to the Mariners is a done deal. Would have been nice to have his speed on the basepaths and versatility on defense. But then again, the Cubs don't steal bases and Soriano is totally awesome at fielding so it wouldn't have made any sense.

Granderson to Yankees

Yet again, the object of the Cubs' desire has gone by the wayside. With mlbtraderumors and several sources confirming the three-team deal that sent Curtis Granderson - or Ganderman if you're a certain Fox playoff announcer - to the Yankees, another potential centerfield option for the North Siders has been wooed away by the Yankees. Read more here. I wonder what aging player past his prime will fill the void.

Bradley Suspended the Rest of the Season!

Jim Hendry finally found his sack and suspended that waste of space Milton Bradley. Season is in the damn toilet and we don't have to see one of the worst signings in Cubs history on the field anymore. Good for you Jim.

Bradley suspended for rest of season

By Paul Sullivan

ST. LOUIS -- For this season, it's game over for Milton Bradley.

The outspoken outfielder, who took shots at the Cubs in a Saturday interview with the Daily Herald, has been suspended for the rest of the season, according to general manager Jim Hendry.

"The last few days became too much for me to tolerate," Hendry said.

"I'm certainly not going to let our great fans become excuses," Hendry said. "I'm not going to tolerate [Bradley] not being able to answer questions from the media respectably."

This came after Bradley's encounter Thursday when reporters asked Bradley about taking himself out of the game without a pinch runner ready following a hit. The scene played out like this:

Reporters: What happened with the injury?

Bradley: "I'm not talking about that. What else you got?"

Reporters: Why did you come out?

Bradley: "I got knee inflammation. I got two knee surgeries. That happens when you got knee surgery, in case you don't know. What else you got?"

Reporters: How long will you be out?

Bradley: "What else you got? Anything significant?"

This went on and on until Bradley turned his back, ending the interview.

Bradley is not with the team as the Cubs prepare for a 7:05 p.m. game against the division-leading Cardinals.

The Cubs signed the oft-moved Bradley to a three-year, $30 million contract in the off-season but are expected to try to trade him this off-season after one disappointing campaign on the North Side.

How About That!?

Aaron Miles was receiving his fair share of boos today for being a complete waste of space. A white towel was thrown at Soriano after he botched a fly ball that allowed several un-earned runs. What about Milton striking out a couple times? Cubs lose 5-0 to a rookie pitcher. Why is this a common theme every time a rookie pitches against the Cubs? Not one damn run? What a complete waste of money on crap.

Don't forget...

...about a couple of great moves Hendry made to "shore up" the outfield and "offer some great versatility." Those players are Joey Gathright and Ryan Freel. Combined, these two players have 102 ABs and 7 teams in 2009.

That's the ticket!

What's worse, Jim Hendry this past off-season or Jon Lovitz in the booth with Len and Bob?

Lovitz was there today and "helped" call the game for an inning. It might have been worse than City Slickers II: The Search for Curly's Gold.
