Often-injured closer and/or set-up man J.J. Putz is on the Cubs' radar - trying out for the team's scouts in Scottsdale. What have we learned about signing "often-injured" players in the past? You're right! They get injured. Stay tuned for more developments on this potential signing.

Oh, and Chone Too
Oh, and Chone Figgins to the Mariners is a done deal. Would have been nice to have his speed on the basepaths and versatility on defense. But then again, the Cubs don't steal bases and Soriano is totally awesome at fielding so it wouldn't have made any sense.
Granderson to Yankees
Yet again, the object of the Cubs' desire has gone by the wayside. With mlbtraderumors and several sources confirming the three-team deal that sent Curtis Granderson - or Ganderman if you're a certain Fox playoff announcer - to the Yankees, another potential centerfield option for the North Siders has been wooed away by the Yankees.
